Welcome to a brand new school year!
We are excited about several new things!
1. We are looking for Library Leaders! These are students in the 4th and 5th grades (we are hoping to recruit 3rd grade leaders later in the school year). Their duties are checking in and out books, helping visitors to find books, and getting new books ready to be checked out. This is an important LIM role and our leaders last year were terrific! Applications will soon be ready.
2. We need Mentors! With two classes/grades in the library every period, our older 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades students are in a great position to help our younger ones. At times they will have time to read to the younger students, help them find books, or help them with projects. This is not a leader position; this is service and kindness.
3. Adopt-a-Shelf activities. This also is not a LIM role and is entirely voluntary. 4th and 5th grade students (and 3rd at a later date) will adopt shelves in the library that they will be responsible for checking to make sure the books are in the right place. Many of our students last year were very protective of their adopted shelves and did a great job.
Book fair in November. It will be the 14th through the 18th (the full week before Thanksgiving.) There will be at least one evening event.
Dr. Seuss' birthday in March.
More details later!
