Read Across America
February 27- March 3, 2017
During the week of February 27 – March 3, the entire East Ridge Elementary School community will participate in Read Across America. This nationwide event is designed to celebrate the power of reading and to honor Dr. Seuss and his contributions to children’s literature. Guests from the community will be visiting your child’s classroom to read a story on Thursday. If you are interested in reading on this day, please contact Ms. Kite, KITE_SUSAN@HCDE.ORG or 493-9296 ext. 244. If you would like to read on another day, please send a note to your child’s teacher.
Each day during this week your child will be invited to join in the fun as we celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and his many books. Students should still wear their normal attire along with their sneakers, but the following deviations from our school’s dress code will be allowed for this special week only:
Monday I AM NOT GOING TO GET UP TODAY! Wear pajamas and robes, no slippers please. (Cafeteria will serve green eggs for Green Eggs & Ham)
Tuesday I CAN READ WITH MY EYES SHUT! Dress with your eyes shut!
Wear crazy mismatched socks, odd patterns, etc. (Cafeteria will serve spaghetti and quesadillas for Oh! The Places I Go!)
Wednesday WACKY WEDNESDAY! Crazy hair or crazy hat day. (Cafeteria will serve fish for One Fish, Two Fish!
Thursday CAT IN THE HAT! Wear red and white day. (Cafeteria will serve Dr. Seuss’ birthday cookie in honor of his birthday.
